Making Your Budget
A line-item budget must be attached to the application. The SWFWMD may choose to fund a project at less than 100 percent of the proposed budget.
Project-related items we may pay for include, but are not limited to:
- Books or videos about freshwater resources, watersheds, water quality, etc., that are geographically pertinent
- Field trips and transportation costs for field trips
- Film and photo processing
- Freshwater resources education software
- Meeting room rentals
- Microscopes (less than $150 each)
- Plants, soil and mulch for water-conserving gardens
- Portable toilet rentals
- Project-specific consumable supplies and materials
- Printing and postage
- Shipping costs
- Signage
- Teacher training
- Tool rentals
- Water testing kits
- Watershed or groundwater models
- Water Conservation Kits for grades K–3
$250 value, available through the SWFWMD - K–3 Watershed Resource Box
a $500 value, available through the SWFWMD - Watershed Education Resources Box for grades 3–5
a $500 value, available through the SWFWMD
We cannot pay for:
- Capital expenditures
- Computer hardware (e.g., thumb drives, computers)
- Computer software not exclusively related to water resource education
- Food, beverages or any meals
- Fountains
- GPS equipment
- Graphic design/artwork
- Infrastructure (pavers, boardwalks, fences, benches, cisterns, construction projects, etc)
- Salaries
- Storage or display cases
- T-shirts
- Video or Audio equipment
- Website development or website providers
Unbudgeted expenses
Purchases for items other than those specified in the line-item budget will require SWFWMD project manager approval before they are incurred. Unapproved expenditures are not reimbursable.
