Save water and money with Water PROSM — the Water Program for Restaurant Outreach.
Join your fellow restaurants in Water PROSM, sponsored by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. This free program helps restaurants lower operating costs while conserving Florida’s precious water resources. Water PRO supplies best management practices and materials that save water and money, and it also helps restaurants reduce energy costs and staff time.
Here are three simple steps to reduce your restaurant’s water use:
- Sign up for Water PRO and review the Self-Audit Checklist with water-saving recommendations.
- Order your free Water PRO materials for additional water-saving opportunities.
- Serve water to guests only upon request. Did you know that each glass of water served requires another two glasses of water to wash and rinse the used glass?
Participating restaurants receive the following FREE items:
- Publicity through Water PRO for your efforts in water conservation.
- Use of program name and logo to showcase your green efforts to patrons.
- High-efficiency pre-rinse spray valve that alone can save up to 200 gallons of water per day. Just unscrew your old spray valve and replace with your new energy- and water-saving spray valve.
- Aerators for bathroom sinks that use less water and are easy to install.
- Guidebook to best management practices that save water.
- Door cling to inform patrons that your restaurant conserves.
- Materials that explain Water PRO and the importance of water conservation to staff members and guests. Items include children’s activity placemats, table tents in bright or earth tones, and coasters. These materials provide tips and facts on conserving water and let patrons know the restaurant is joining the effort to be environmentally friendly.
