Michael Molligan is responsible for the operations of the Communications Bureau. He directs, develops and executes communication strategies and programs that further the District’s mission. Areas of responsibility include strategic communications planning, public opinion research, media relations, public information programs, publications, education programs, graphics support and the District’s website.
Molligan began his career at the District in 1996 and held the positions of public information officer, communications manager and communications program director before being named communications bureau chief. Prior to joining the District, Molligan had 14 years of experience in the journalism field, serving as general manager of the Willits (California) News, managing editor of the Lake County (California) Record-Bee, managing editor for Louisiana Suburban Press (weekly newspaper group) and editor of the Zachary (Louisiana) Plainsman-News.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Louisiana State University and is certificated in circuit civil mediation by the University of South Florida Mediation Institute.
