As inspector general, Bob Dunne oversees the Office of Inspector General, which detects fraud and abuse and promotes accountability, effectiveness and efficiency at the District.
Dunne served as the District’s senior internal auditor from 2004–2011. He is an information systems auditor, a Manpower systems analyst and a LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt. Prior to joining the District, Dunne served 26 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a captain in 1994. During his Navy career, he led several aviation squadrons, was second in command of the aircraft carrier Saratoga and was an undergraduate and graduate school professor at the U.S. Naval Academy and Naval War College, respectively.
His education includes a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Naval War College, a master of science in management from the Naval Postgraduate School and a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts.
