Regional Water Supply Plan Technical Methods Workshop November 7

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 23, 2013 – A public workshop will be held to discuss the technical data and modeling tools being used in the development of the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) Regional Water Supply Plan. The workshop will include presentations and opportunities for questions and public input. CFWI technical experts will be available for individual discussions.

Time: 10 a.m. – noon
Location: Osceola Heritage Park, 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee, FL 34744, University of Florida Extension Services building, rooms 161 and 162

The St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts are working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and utilities to address near- and long-term water supply needs in the central Florida region.

Through the CFWI, the agencies are engaging stakeholders in the development of a Regional Water Supply Plan for the area, which includes Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and southern Lake counties.

The Regional Water Supply Plan will:

•Quantify existing and future water needs
•Ensure protection of water resources and related natural systems
•Identify sustainable water supply options
