MEDIA ALERT: District and City of Crystal River to Hold Groundbreaking for Reclaimed Water Project connecting the City to Duke Energy

"The Southwest Florida Water Management District":http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/ (District) and City of Crystal River will hold a groundbreaking event to celebrate the start of a project to transport reclaimed water from the City to the Duke Energy power plant facility in Citrus County.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the City of Crystal River Sprayfield, located at 7040 N. Citrus Ave. in Crystal River. The entrance is approximately five miles north of US Hwy 19. Look for the forestry tower near the entrance.

Mike Gudis, City of Crystal River Councilmember
David Burnell, City of Crystal River City Manager

Michael Babb, Southwest Florida Water Management Governing Board

This project will reduce groundwater pumping and wastewater nutrient loading in the Crystal River/Kings Bay springshed. This project is being funded by the City of Crystal River, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Duke Energy.

All activities will take place outside so please wear appropriate shoes and attire.
