Inverness mayor to proclaim "Get Outside Day"

Inverness Mayor Ron Plaisted will proclaim this Saturday, Oct. 23 as "Inverness Get Outside! Day," kicking off the "Southwest Florida Water Management District's(Southwest Florida Water Management District)":/ "Get Outside!" event at "Potts Preserve(Potts Preserve)":/recreation/areas/potts.html.

Citrus, Marion and Sumter county residents are invited to attend the *free event* from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include *guided nature hikes*, a *native animal presentation*, an *archery adventure* for all ages, *children's activities*, *waterless fishing* and more. *Scenic boat tours* of the Withlacoochee River will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 9,300-acre Potts Preserve is in northeastern Citrus County, north of Inverness. The event is being held at the River Camp area of the preserve, off North Hooty Point Road near the end of Turner Camp Road.

The District is inviting members of the community to "Get Outside!" and get to know the property so they can come back with their friends and family.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners also identified Oct. 23 as "Get Outside Day" in a proclamation issued on Oct. 12.
