Hugh M. Gramling
Hugh M. Gramling of Plant City is former executive director of Tampa Bay Wholesale Growers.
Gramling was appointed to the Governing Board in April 2008 and his term expires March 1, 2012. In May 2009 he was elected Board secretary and in May 2010 and 2011 he was elected Board vice chair.
A native of Plant City, Gramling graduated from Plant City High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1969.
Gramling has extensive expertise in the nursery and landscape industry and served as executive director of the Tampa Bay Wholesale Growers from 1996 to 2012. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Plant Propagators Society, the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association, the American Nursery & Landscape Association, and the Florida Society of Association Executives.
Before joining the Governing Board, Gramling was a member of the Hillsborough River Basin Board and has served on numerous District committees, including the Agricultural Advisory Committee, Basin Board Education Committee, the Southern Water Use Caution Area Working Group, and the Reclaimed Water Task Force.
Outside of the District, Gramling is the chair of the Hillsborough County Soil & Water District, and has served on the Plant City Election Board, Green Industry Advisory Committee, the Hillsborough County Utilities Water Technical Advisory Committee, and the Florida Nursery Growers & Landscape Association Research Committee.
Gramling feels his experience as a Basin Board member and his regular attendance of Governing Board meetings have given him extensive knowledge of the District, which will help him make informed policy decisions on the Governing Board.
